Theft??

Well, lets look at the Statute for theft, COURTESY OF THE FLORIDA WEB SITE- http://www.leg.state.fl.us/statutes

Lets see, the value of the Incentive pay was How much, lets let the readers decide, after having a look at the actual statute whether this was theft or just a little misunderstanding! I understand that it is possible that someone would (over a period of how long??) assume a large amount of money from an employer that HE signed for himself! But why is the police chief (the one that signs and acknowledges the payments) accepting this money? I look at every one of my paychecks and I know every penny that is coming in and going out, so David made the mistake that cost taxpayers? If he can overlook something this simple in HIS OWN paycheck, what stops him from making mistakes in other areas with taxpayers money? Why did he not report this himself? Why did someone else have to step in and do the PROPER and MORAL thing by making Syrkus return the money he "accidentally" took?

Here, take a look at the statute and tell me what you think:

812.014 Theft.--
(1) A person commits theft if he or she knowingly obtains or uses, or endeavors to obtain or to use, the property of another with intent to, either temporarily or permanently:
(a) Deprive the other person of a right to the property or a benefit from the property.
(b) Appropriate the property to his or her own use or to the use of any person not entitled to the use of the property.

(c) It is grand theft of the third degree and a felony of the third degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082, s. 775.083, or s. 775.084, if the property stolen is:
1. Valued at $300 or more, but less than $5,000.

THEFT

The taking of something
that is not yours.

Chief Syrkus, have you ever
committed a crime?
It has been stated that
you passed a polygraph
when hired at
Melbourne Beach.
Were you asked about theft?

To anonymous:
I learned through all of my pshycology and criminal justice training that a sociopathic person can be asked incriminating questions, lie, and that lie will not effect the outcome of the test. Another way to trip up the test results is to take a valum or xanax before testing and the machine cannot pick up the deseption. Just a thought.

Or better yet just have a friend give you the test!
