Why is Pubic Record such a BIG DEAL?
What's up with public records requests at local Towns? Employee gets fired, citizens being followed, employees yelling on a blog, charges out of sight. It seems people have something to hide. You made your own record, can't blame it on someone else. What's the problem? Blocking the public from records is illegal.....................Enough, I say.

I've read the blog comments for several months, regarding David Syrkus, Pat Burke, etc.
I was mayor of Melbourne Village during an approximately 18 month period before Chief Syrkus was hired by Melbourne Beach. I asked my Commission to replace him with Chief Jack King. When telling me of his resignation, David recommended Jack to be his replacement, convincing me he'd do a great job. I inherited David Syrkus in November 2004. I was able to chose his successor and fortunately, Jack King landed in my lap! How ironic the man who recommended him would play such a pivotal role in his disgrace at Melbourne Beach.
The tales I've read on this site have been interesting, considering I worked closely with the people who have been slowly stoned to death. I'd like to suggest you require people to identify themselves when they make comments.
I commend your efforts to pursue wrongdoing in government. However,I believe you could have more impact on effecting change. I believe you are discouraging qualified people from seeking public office, knowing they will be publicly ridiculed on blog sites where comments are posted without identity of the writers.
As a former elected official, I know this can be a frightening environment. If you wish to attract the best leadership, anonymous critism should be discouraged.
From what I've read on this blog site, I agree things have gone seriously wrong with management of Melbourne Beach. I hope things will soon turn better in the future for your beautiful Town. I believe you have the best management talent in the County. Somehow, you need to encourage your best to come forward and use their

Yeah, about that, the only thing that would discourage a qualified applicant from seeking public office is what they KNOW they have in their background that could possibly get out to the public.
Politicians are publicly ridiculed on a daily basis by each other in the media. That's a chance you take as a politician. Public Servant, Public Records. What difference does the name make if what the person saying it is telling the truth? I would suspect that you would want the name so that you could retaliate.
